Product Description

This fan-front bodice (PP801 sold separately) and single skirt were fashionable between 1841-1847. It may also be worn as an 1850s gown because daguerreotypes abound of women wearing the fan-front bodice in the 1850s.

The original fan-front bodice and skirt fabric was a black silk taffeta. The original flounce skirt was a forest green and black stripe cut on the diagonal. A watered taffeta, a changeable silk taffeta, plaid taffeta and a medium-weight good quality cotton are particularly good choices.

The Single Skirt requires 45 inch fabric for: All sizes 6-7/8 Yds. of fashion fabric and 7-1/8 Yds. of lining.

Flounced Skirt requires 45 inch fabric for: Fashion Fabric - Sizes 8 through 14 - 6-1/3 Yds. fashion fabric; Sizes 16 through 20 - 6-1/2 Yds.; Sizes 22 through 26 - 7 Yds. Lining Fabric: All sizes 4-1/2 Yds. Underskirt Fabric: All sizes 4 Yds.
