Pattern contains pattern lines for sizes 12 Months through 4T. In this pattern we give many different options for the bodice, sleeve, and skirt that combined with your personal choices and preferences will create many different and varied looks for this simple garment. You will need to choose a neck band variation, sleeve variation, skirt variation and waistband size. Built into the pattern are grey areas of adjustment because individual length growth is so different from child to child. Please measure your child and adjust the pattern accordingly.
The original jacket was made of a light weight red wool and had scalloped pinked edges, probably made with a die chisel for fabric. It has a princess seamed back and an all-in-one cut-away front.

This is exactly what I was looking for. It looks almost exactly like one of the toddler frocks from the 1836 The Workwoman's Guide which I was trying to figure out from those unhelpful 1836 directions. Instead I have a lovely pattern with 2013 directions. Sigh of relief. Also, rec'd the pattern, directions plus some special 1800s sewing guidelines very very quickly.
