This pattern was published by The Butterick Pattern Company. Originally the pattern was described as "Ladies' Two-Piece Costume, in round, short round or instep length, and with or without straps: consisting of a blouse coat or jacket, with Louis XV skirt in short three-quarter or medium hip length and "1830" Bishop sleeves, and with or without the tab collars; and a three-piece skirt, with an inverted box-plait at the back". Written directions. Pattern dates circa 1902-05.
Suggested fabrics: Ladies' dresses were made of rough hair cloths, supple satins, raw silks, velvet, georgette, crepe and linen. The colors were maize, shell pink, silver, brown, sulphur, apricot, champagne and tobacco.
Materials required: 6-1/2 Yds. of 44" wide fabric.
