Openwork silk stockings. Thigh high, One Size fits most. Available in Cream and Black. Based on extant examples, these have a lovely openwork pattern, centered on the front of the leg. The design starts at mid-calf and continues down to the top of the toe. Styles of openwork patterns began to appear in stockings near the beginning of the 19th century. They continued to change and elaborate into the early 20th century. Embroidered openwork and lace inserts in both silk and cotton were seen on many fashionable feet throughout the Regency, Victorian and Edwardian eras. The cream colored stockings are dyeable.
