Product Description

THIS IS A PREORDER SALE!  THE SALE CLOSES DECEMBER 22, 2023.  SHOES ARE ANTICIPATED TO BE READY FOR SHIPPING OUT 8 TO 12 WEEKS AFTER SALE CLOSES, JUST IN TIME FOR SPRING!

Left and Right Last, an all-leather boot with elastic sides appropriate for the time period 1837-1900.

This Boot is known by many different names: Congress Gaiter, Chelsea Boot, Dealer Boot, Paddock Boot and Jodhpur Boot to name a few. It is great for Civilian Impressions, Grand Army of the Republic or Sons of the Confederacy.

All leather shoe with elastic sides and a tab on the back for ease of slipping it on. The Congress Gaiter originated just after 1837 when the Rubber Masticator was patented, allowing rubber product manufacturing to surge. Thomas Hancock, the English inventor of the Masticator, patented elastic fastener products for gloves, shoes, suspenders and stockings, in 1822. This style of boot is still used today in Australia as a work boot.

Available in sizes 8 through 12
